The annual programme includes:
- May – our Annual Concert
- December – Carol singing in the pub, Nine Lessons and Carols Service
Other activities may be added such as a visit to Birmingham Symphony Hall to sing in a choral work with other choirs, singing at a wedding in the local church, or being involved in a nearby concert at the organisers’ request.
Our annual concert will have a theme such as ‘Country Fare – A musical menu from the British Isles and around the world’ (2013 concert), or ‘Stage & Screen’ an evening of songs from musicals and films with occasional audience participation (2014 & 2015). We may sing approximately 15 pieces covering a wide variety of genres e.g. classical, traditional, spiritual, and we also invite guests to join us such as a local professional mezzo-soprano and various instrumentalists. The concert is held in Chedworth Village Hall or the local church and we support a chosen charity for each event. It is a social occasion with food and drinks provided in the interval included in the ticket price.
Just before Christmas we have an informal and very enjoyable carol singing event in a local pub followed by a meal for all the Singers and guests. At the Nine Lessons and Carols Service in Chedworth’s St Andrew’s Church we contribute with a few appropriate pieces.
Any additional events throughout the year are organised according to members’ availability and desire to be involved.
