Based in the Cotswolds just north of Cirencester, The Chedworth Singers is an informal but enthusiastic group who enjoy the pleasure of singing in all its forms. We first met in 1996 and over the years have presented a concert every May as well as contributing to various events and occasions, such as Christmas celebrations.
We have between 30-35 members (SATB) who come from the village of Chedworth and the surrounding area. We meet once a week on a Thursday evening during term time up until the middle of May. At the beginning of 2016 we were very fortunate in finding a new musical director, Bernard Crooks, who comes to us with a background in teaching music and currently sings in a 100 strong local choir. Our experienced and talented accompanist Rachel Emmerson, continues with us as before.
Through our concerts we have raised considerable funding for local organisations and charities such as St Andrew’s Church and Primary School, Maggie’s, Helen & Douglas House and The National Star College. At our last concert we raised over £900 from our ticket sales and a collection on the night.
New members are always very welcome and can join without an audition – an enjoyment of singing is all that is necessary! If you feel you would like to have a try, just come along any Thursday evening (term time only) and join in. For further information refer to our contact page for details.
Exciting event coming up in September – an Open Evening for anyone who might like to have a try at singing in a choir. See Forthcoming Events for details.
